Meet the Shaman - Don Jose
Born on July 10, 1942, Don Jose is a descendant of the Quechua Indians and an eighth-generation curandero (healer-shaman). His knowledge of Amazonian plant medicine was passed down through his family, a lineage of healers dedicated to the wisdom of the jungle. Living deep within the rainforest near a small village, he serves as the community’s trusted healer.
From a young age, Don Jose’s path was clear. His healing abilities extended beyond his village—he even worked with military units in Ecuador as a healer. In 1994, he was honored as the President of the National Shaman Association in Tena, further solidifying his role as a respected spiritual guide.
